I figure the 6.7 has been around awhile now. Have you guys learned any little tricks to squeezing some power out if them for free?
My issue is I'm used to driving the truck in my signature and the 6.7 feels like a pig... I don't want to spend any money on it, just looking for free power if its there. 26k miles. Super cab long/ stake bed 2wd. Thanks
Wow,never heard that before. This truck is anything but a pig.I had an 02 7.3 tuned by jodys tunes at dp tuner and this 6.7 stock is quicker, faster and pulls like a beast compared to my tuned 7.3....But jesus, look what you have put into yours to make it what it is.The 7.3 stock is what a true pig is....
Well yes, I don't know anyone with a tuned 6.7 though. My friend who I bought my truck from his daily driver is an 11 CCSB 6.7 f350 and he said the 6.0 felt quicker
I know my stock 6.7 was equal to a deleted '05 6.0l with a banks 6 gun kit and fresh heads and studs in it from 0-60. Once I tuned mine, it wasn't even a race. I had him by two truck lengths.
My brother's 2011 6.7 with the original 390 tune was just about dead equal with my 6.0 running an IDP tow tune. My 6.7 came in before he got the 400/800 flash so we never got a chance to run them together. A stock 6.7 would never come close to a 6.0 with a good race tune.
I'm thinking that the OP is driving a derated cab and chassis model since he did mention "stake bed". To whoever said that a stock 7.3 is the true definition of a pig, right on brother! I always said the reason the 7.3 has always been regarded as reliable is because they don't make enough power to break themselves! They aren't so reliable anymore once you start tweaking them. I've seen far more windowed 7.3 blocks can I can count, especially with the PMRs.
I too had a tuned 7.3 with slightly bigger injectors (stage 1 singles). the stock 6.7 pulls much better and is a whole lot quicker from 0-60. the only area i may give the 7.3 was from 60-80
the 6.7's do loose a little oomph on the top end...
Have not tested my 6.7, but want to just for comparison,
my stock 2002 7.3 went to about 230 to 250
my predator tuned 2003 6.0 went to about 375 @ the wheels
my sct tuned 2005 6.0 went to about 400 and 8.9 in the 1/8th mile
I will venture to say this epa choked pig will outrun all of the above 800 lbft torque is a bunch
I didn't start this thread with the intentions of bashing the 6.7. Yes the 7.3 isn't as fast stock and what so ever.... Is there anything I can do for next to free or free?
