I have a new 302 that I'm about fed up with (long story), so I'm seriously considering going back through my Cleveland and dropping it in my 72 Bronco. I need to see which cam would be better for the application. If someone with Desktop Dyno could throw me a bone, I'd appreciate it. Here are the proposed specs:
351C bored .030
L2379F pistons (9.0:1, give or take)
Edelbrock 600cfm (have 750, don't think I need it)
Want to use some 2V heads (early 400s)
Sanderson FC3 headers (1 7/8 tubes?)
The cam is the question:
Crane CJ blueprint 270/290 dur., .481/.490 lift
Crane H-260-2 260/276 dur., .493/.502 lift
Compcams 268H 268/268 dur., .494/.494 lift
or even Crower 270HDP 270/276 dur., .486/.510 lift.
I realize they are all pretty close, and I've heard good things about some of them, but I'm not too crazy about the flat specs of the Compcams, but hear it is good and want to get an idea anyway. Looking for tons of low end. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.
these were posted seperate to keep the information easy to follow.
becasue you didnt say the intake type, i ran both. from now on, please include this information, this was 16 runs on one question.
the torque at 2K was @ 350 ft withthe dual palne and 300 ft with the single plane intake.
dp= dual plane
sp= single plane
i dont know if posting this many runs will upset the moderators, if so i leave it up to the members and mods to inform me if they want to keep this out of the forum. if so i will post replys to these request in a pm.
Sorry about the intake thing, it is a dual plane Edelbrock unit. I was trying to remember all of the specs, but forgot that one. I appreciate the help. Looks like there isn't too much difference in power. Thanks again.
I might hang on to the 302 short block, it has 9:1 forged TRW pistons and Edelbrock cam, double roller chain, etc. I might want to part with the World Products Windsor Jr. heads though..... The Cleveland has a little tied up in it too, but I want to do a re-ring and re-bearing job with a new cam. Then it should be good to go. Is yours a 4V?
