I have a 1989 f150 with a 302 ECC-IV system. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out what is wrong with it.
The truck runs extremly rich and rough. It will not rev over 3500 rpm. The plugs foul out after about 45 minutes running time. I have a new O2 sensor, EGR valve, throttle position sensor, air temp sensor, plugs, cap and rotor. The secondary and primary coils are new. The TFI module is new-ish. Timing is set at about 15 degrees BTDC. I have good pressure at the fuel rails, and a new filter and high pressure pump.
My next step is to drain the fuel tanks and start clean there since the truck is almost re-built now. Any ideas?
No I have not. I think that I will look at that and the throttle air bypass valve. I didn't realize that the fuel regulator returned the excess fuel back to the tank from the injectors. Thanks for the good idea!
