my 1989 f 150 4.9Litre 6 cylinder starts good when cold and after work, but after i run it for 30 min. or more and shut it off it takes twice as long to start. once it starts it shows black smoke for about 5-10 seconds then clears out and runs great. all filters are clean. air, fuel etc. have installed new egr sensor. plugs have 13k on them and new pump in front tank. problem exist on either tank. any help will be appreciated. thanks
Check for any trouble codes . There are a few sensors that control mixture , you are obviuosly experiencing a rich condition with the black smoke . Let us know what you find .
ichecked for codes and the only code i had was a 34 which was egr sensor which i replaced. however the code did not clear. i did disconect the battery for a few min. after installation. it only is rich for 5-10 seconds at warm start.
