Is your ABS light on? If so it could be the Vehicle Speed Sensor on the rear axle. I was told this as a possible fix to mine, but I also don't have a functioning cruise control. However replacing the VSS took care of the ABS light. I'll be watching this to see if a solution is found.

Since you have a 6 speed there is the clutch switch on the pedal. Look under the dash and you will see it. This was my problem a few years back. I got a new one from Advanced Auto.
The clock spring is in the steering column. Images here
If it turns out not to be that, it could be a few othr things as well. There is a wire off the master cylinder that had a recall. Or it could be the cruise control module itself. Thre is an old thread over in the SD forum here that goes through if it is not the clock spring. They never get to the bottom of this guys particular issue, but he has some good info in the thread.

I agree with ronjon, when mine wasn't working I replaced the clutch pedal position switch and that fixed the problem. It is located on the clutch pedal rod going thru the firewall. I purchased mine from rockauto, but don't remember how much it was. You can search the switch on here and it will come up with instructions on how to locate and fix it.
Are there symptoms to go with each potential problem? My horn works fine, so I don't think its the clock spring. Is there something that would tell us its the clutch position switch or possibly the wire on the master cylinder? Does anybody know of a way to test the cruise control module?
If you have had the recall done on the truck for the cruse control, there is a fuse in the wire coming off the master cylinder. See if it is popped. If it is, it saved you from a potentially nasty failure/fire.
