After crunching #s and amount of work involved to upgrade to a legitimate v8 with 5 speed combo for my f350. I decided to buy a 89 parts truck for the motor trans combo. Came to the conclusion that with all the upgrades I wanted to do that it was easier just to change cabs. I'm not suggesting changing cabs as thats reserved for aholes like me, but it is a good way to get a modern drive train into an older truck.
Now for those who are about to tell you I'm wrong I'll let you into my think pattern. Look at the hp. and trq. #s on the 351ws and 460s in 89 and newer trucks. Now figure out how much it's going to cost you to build what you have to those #s, is it going to be reliable and work right from the start. If it breaks down how long will it be til it's back on the road.
Fuel injection is not evil especially when you have a parts truck that has everything you need to switch over. Plus if you buy a good enough parts truck you'll have all sorts of nifty things you can add to your truck, stereo, speakers, seat, etc. Notice how many miles these new blocks last for, quality, luck of the irish or maybe everyone learned how to look after them.
food for thought for some and a way to irritate others. Ha ha ha ha haw. I like being you. Not!!
