lights

I have an 00 f350 7.3, I've had it for a couple of years and have not really had to do anything to it as far as lights go. Last weekend one of my headlights burnt out, so I decided to change both as the high beams never worked. The inside dome lights didn't work, and the cab break light was out also. so I thought it was time to change them. I ask at the auto parts store for a dome light and was given a regular 12v incandecent bulb. When I took the lens off, I found what's in the pic below. I have lights like this in the refrigerator of my 5th wheel trailer.
How do these lights work. I can't find a switch on any of the doors to activate them, I think they would work off the dash dimmer sw. I think they should also work when the doors open. Any advice is welcomed. Thanks.

Did you take the incandescent bulb and get the correct ones? The door switch is hidden inside the door latch (door side). Try using WD40 on the latch area. You may need to use quite a bit. I had to let mine sit well doused overnight before it loosened up the switch. If that still doesn't work, the switch itself is still available from Ford.
