My friend needs to replace his ECM on his Ford. For cost reasons he is looking at a generic brand, but it needs to be programmed (he said). Does the Auto Enginuity bundle do that? I mean, if it knows what Ford you are dealing with and which engine, can it program the computer? Ford says they will do it, but its like $700. He doesn't make enough to handle that kind of cost.

Hmmm doubtfull...but this might be a question for Auto Enginuity.
Dealer accesses a data bank with the VIN number.
The data bank down loads the program the vehichle was built with.
Aftermarket programming would have to do the same to get the same program.
How was it determimned the ECM is faulty?
Maybe it's not.
This second handed help is not always accurate without more info.
With the cost involved it's better to be sure.
good luck.
