How difficult is it to replace a leaking fuel pump?

96 f 250 with a dripping fuel pump. How much of an operation is it to fix the leak or is it best to install a new pump?

Best off to usually install a new pump if you gotta fuss with it.

It's more of a hastle than it is hard to do.

the only hard part is turning the motor over to get the lobe top dead center.

There are a lot of how to's in the forum here for it.

Take a look at those and if you have any other questions beyond those, just ask.

It just sucks cause you gotta take out the fuel bowl and all that and get it out of the way and lay on the motor.

The banjo bolt can fuss with ya a bit too.

Sounds like a perfect time to re-seal the fuel bowl and replace the blue lines too.

Fuel pump

I replaced the fuel pump last May and I have a few tips. I bought a cheap wrench set from HF and bent the 1 1/4" with a torch to make it get easier to get the banjo bolt. I replaced all of the hoses with the blue ones. While I had everything apart I rebuilt the fuel bow. Another thing that I did was to use some thin thread to hold the washers while I fished the banjo bolt back in. The job is not hard but time consuming.
