$500 Labor for 5 or less broken studs, $750 for more than 5. I thought it was high until I read a couple of the broken stud threads. Now it seems reasonable.

IDK.... that's one hell of a gamble either way. 5.4 or 6.8?

That's not bad, if I remember correctly Ford Dealer replaced my exhaust system for $800 labor on my 02'. I supplied the Banks headers, pipes, heat shields etc. I had 2 broken studs and they broke probably 5 more in the removal process. FYI took about 6 hours..

Sort of agree.
$500 (or $750) buys a LOT of nice tools (i.e.: torch or welder) and I also prefer to increase my tool addiction vs. pay for somebody else's. Plus you can change the COPS and do other maintenance items at the same time..

Plus you can get more familiar and knowledgeable about your truck.

Glad they did. What I spent for an entire new system, headers back - a shop would have charged me just in labor to get those studs out.
I'm getting ready to tackle this so I figured I'd give this a little nudge to the top. I want to pay a shop to do it, but I also want to make it through this stage of the initiation.
I half expect Banks to include a picture of the "SAW" Character with a caption under it that says "Let's Play a Little Game" on it.
Anyone want to guess how many manifold will break on mine?
I wish you luck with your stud removal, on my install none of the studs broke coming out. . I did start the job with two that were already broken and missing the outer portion and nut, those required a little work to get out, MIG welded a nut to one and easy outed the other.

I don't have any broken, that I know of at the moment. I've got these treads bookmarked.
