whats the best option, im leaning towardss the trick flow kit.. just because thats all im lookin to do other than the headers.. will i need to do anythin to the bottom end? im sending the block to the machine shop soon
Depending on cam, you shouldn't need to do anything to the bottom end. With a 306 and some compression with the trick flow heads and a good cam, you shoul have some power. I know out of a mustang that gets you around 350 to th wheels. Will be a bit less in the truck obviously but definitely fun.
I'm not sure that cam will work well with your truck. The lobe separation is off. Should be no less than 114 unless you want vacuum issues. Wait for Conanski to post. He will be able to set you strait.
Get a custom cam designed for your truck. Hence why I suggest the trick flow heads used and use the extra money to get a good cam that will meet your needs.
The truck 5.0 doesn't need an intake upgrade like the Mustang so that's money wasted IMO, I'd suggest you buy the heads alone and put the rest of the money into a basic 347 stroker assembly(doesn't need to be forged) and XE264HR cam.
