Hey guys! I'm in the middle of swapping a 429 and c6 into my 1964 f100 2wd sb. I have a couple of questions I'm hoping somebody can help me with. Now I know that the 429 was not an option in 1964 so I know there is no easy answer or part number.
1) Has anybody done this swap and found a set of headers that fit without any modifications? Or do regular exhaust manifolds work?
2) What rear end is likely in my truck and will I need to upgrade to handle the extra power? I don't have the door badge info with me at this time to decode.
Your rear end should have a tag on one of the pumpkin bolts. Most likely a 28 spline, 3.?? the door tag should lend a hint if there and the rear end is all original. I would go pull a late 70's 9" with a 31 spline and swap it. 10+ years newer, and the option to go through it before installing.
Thanks, that is actually the kit that I bought along with the trans crossmember. I was hoping somebody knew if regular manifolds would fit or what headers would fit. I'm a little worried because my steering box looks like it might be in the way and cause some fitment issues. I'd like to stay away from the trial and error if possible.
Well, I do know that my 64 when I bought it had truck manifolds on it with the 460, and supposedly he used 390 engine mounts, don't know if it was true or not.(other things he told me weren't). Mine now sits on a 75 Frame and has hedman hedders and it fits but then they were designed for it.
