My 1949 mercury had no floor plates around the steering column and the brake and clutch pedals when I got it. I found some plates at a swap meet and then got the insulating pad and other from Dennis Carpenter. Can anyone give me some guidance as far as installing all this stuff please. Some do's and don'ts. What order do they all go in etc. Any pictures would help too. Thank you for any help. Greg M-47
Lower plate goes in first then the upper plate overlaps it then the seals for the pedals as I recall . Insulating pad and rubber floor mat next then the rubberized trim piece that fits around the steering shaft .
If I have that wrong I am sure some one will correct me .
Okay, that's a help. I've got to have the steering box and shaft not bolted in so I can slip the insulating pad and the floor mat and the rubberized trim piece for the steering column. into place. Then try to slip the steering column outer cover with the mounting clamp over the steering shaft. Sounds like a two man job for next Monday. Thank you for the reply. Any other words of advice ?
