Muffler Recomendations

I've got a 97 F-250, 351ci, auto, 4wd that needs a muffler again. Put several on, but they don't last long and they are never as quiet as oem. Can anyone recommend one and also tell me where I can get it? The truck is all stock, I'm looking for a durable muffler that won't hurt performance, that is relatively quiet and has one 3" inlet and one 3" outlet. Thanks!

I think other then finding an actual OEM muffler(real NOS), any turbo style muffler will not be as quiet as stock. They won't last as long either. Unless you find a stainless steel turbo muffler, but I bet it won't be as quiet as stock.

You'll have a hard time finding something as quiet as stock. You'd probably see better performance with something like a turbo muffler or a chambered muffler, even if you get a little noise.

I had a Flowmaster 50 Series on my truck for a while that sounded really good. It was pretty quiet unless you really got on it. Its probably a lot quieter with the catalytic converter in place.

Walker mufflers can be bought with oem quietness in mind and are fairly durable.
Napa or Carquest or probably a lot of auto stores.
Look online for the walker muffler guide to see what you want to order.

jones maxflow is a good starting point. full stainless steel muffler that is not too harsh on the pocket and sound great MF2289
3"X3" OFFSET/CENTER - 24" MUFFLER - 30" OVERALL. I have the 14's on my truck and they sound great. But the 24'' will be more quiet and better suiting for you.

Walker Quietflow is a good OE type replacement muffler.

You could look at a large case Magnaflow. They come in an array of sizes. They are relatively quiet and are stainless with a LT warranty.

If you want quiet or at least mellow sound, you definitely do not want a chambered muffler like Flowmaster.

I've been looking at magnaflow on mine to get a little extra sound, better flow, but not be insanely loud. I loved them on my mustang but I ran it with long tubes and no cats. It should be a lot quieter on the truck with all the cats in place.

I highly recommend a Magnaflow. I just put one on mine and love it. Magnaflow has a very nice sound that is deep and rumbly. The cheap mufflers like Flowmaster etc I find to sound too brash and rough with no refinement. They are also full stainless with good packing so they should last quite some time. I can't think of a better sounding muffler out there if you like tone and not noise.

I can attest to the magnaflows holding up. I had some for 35k miles over 7 years and they showed no signs of wear other than being dirty when I pulled them. They are very high quality.

Magnaflows work good and do have a warrenty. Most welded muffler s hold up better .They may be a little louder but you will feel a power increase plus usually get a tad better gas milage
