Fan Clutch

with the clutch off the engine and the fan blades still on the clutch, how hard should the clutch nut be to turn with my hands? holding on to one of the fan blandes and then trying to turn the nut it is almost impossible to move the nut.

I replaced mine about a year ago. The new one was really stiff. I can tell the new one is engaging when I start going down the road, even after letting it idle for 15 mins. I can hear it disengage about 3/4-1 mile down the road.

My old one was stiff also, but did not engage. Buddy of mine had an extra one from a junkyard that he got with a 6.9. Changed them out but it was not good either.
