c6 leak

Swapped on a rebuilt c6. Noticed tranny fluid leaking from rear onto transfer case support. What might be leaking. Should I pull the tranny and t case again? If so, what should I be looking for?

I would check to make sure fluid was not coming out by the dipstick tube, then check to see if the pan had any leaks before I went through the process of pulling the tranny.

The pan could be leaking, did you retorque the bolts yet ? Could also be the shift modulator.

As already stated, pulling the tranny should be the last option not the first. First thing to do is verify WHERE it's leaking then decide what needs to be done to fix the leak.

Simple fixes first.

Im leaking at the oil cooler lines and from the rear. The rear is not easily visable. What is the shift modulator? Everything has been torqued. I plan on redoing the lines but am fairly certain that is not the cause of my leak at the rear.

I had issues on my C6 getting it to seal. I torqued the pan to spec and the darn thing would still leak. I ended up having to use Permatex's "The Right Stuff" without a gasket in order to get a good seal.

The flare could be damaged on the end of the cooler line where it attaches to the case, the flare may not have gone on square, or the nuts could be half stripped out and not allow you to apply sufficient torque to seal the line up. Are the fittings on the case side tight?

The modulator is located at the back of the transmission on the passenger side:

Does it look like the fluid is running down the side of the pan from somewhere at the front of the transmission? I hate trying to find the source of leaks

I've got some new fittings and line to install this weekend. That should fix those leaks. The leak that worries me is the one from the rear. The pan appears sealed. I used RTV when I put it on. Since the truck has not moved since the swap I can not see where the cooler lines would cause the drip at the support crossmember. To me the leak looks like it is coming from somewhere between the t case and tranny. I'll have to investigate further and see if I can pinpoint it better. Just thought there might be a common problem known to occur in this particular area. Thanks for all the input thus far.

FYI, looks like the cooler lines were the cause. Oil ran down the back from them. Thanks for the info. Glad it's fixed.
