Foil on IC pipe

Reading back thru some old threads I noticed everyone said the foil was not added to the IC pipe until 99.5. My truck has the foil but its birthdate is November 1998. Did some of the e99's get the foil?

Good possibility but I knew the previous owners and they never did anything to the truck except change the oil. Adam:

Are you trying to tell if you have early or late setup? If so, the easiest way to tell is if you have the air intake heater or not. No AIH means early turbo setup. AIH means late. Keep in mind, some of the suspension parts weren't changed at the exact same time as the under the hood items. Late turbo setup doesn't mean late sway bar, or late brakes, etc.

My truck has just the single relay setup, which means no AIH. correct?

That's correct, which means you should have the early turbo setup. And I'm pretty sure the late style IC pipes won't fit an early, so I guess ford did wrap some of the pipes.

Here are the two relays on a later truck.

The connector in the very top far right corner is where the AIH element goes. Mine is deleted with a boost gauge there now.

You're not far behind me mileage wise. And I bought it with 219 after I wrecked my 03. Planning on 600 before needing rings and pistons. Injectors and trans may come before 300 though.

I hope my trans holds out for a good while. I'm towing a 12K 5th wheel, was a little sluggish until I added my edge evolution now I can hardly even tell the camper is behind me. I don't have a trans temp gauge, but before my last 1000 mile trip with the camper I had all fluids changed, ran the truck pretty hard before edge and the trans fluid at the end was just still as pretty as it went in. Keeping fingers crossed on that one.

Same hear, just don't know any history on the truck. Might already be in the second trans for all I know. Got a 29 foot fiver between 11 and 12k. Php 60 towtune is outstanding with that setup.
