Brakes repaired

This last week my '96 PSD had brake problems. I noticed that I had to apply quite a bit of pressure to stop the truck. About 2 Saturdays ago I had a real problem stopping the truck so I applied a lot of pressure to the emergency brake when I heard a loud pop. Fortunately I was in the driveway and I chocked the wheels and then crawled under the truck to see a broken cable. The intermediate cable snapped. I went to the parts store and bought the front and middle cables. After they were installed I tried to connect the rear cables but they were frozen. Another trip to NAPA to get the rear cables. These were a real pain to get off so I used the air cutoff grinder. Once these were replaced I checked the vacuum pump with a gauge and had very little vacuum. The pump and the brake booster were replaced (zero loss) and now I have brakes that work properly.

Very nice. Stopping power is a good thing in a truck that weighs as much as these do!
