Dieseling/idle drop

I'm all smiles these last two days...I have to share.

Put it in and got it going yesterday:

<IFRAME height=315 src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Y2iobh8Vnr0" frameBorder=0 width=420 allowfullscreen=""></IFRAME>

'71 F100.

'72 400ci, bored .040 over. I had the longblock redone at a place called Carolina Machine Engines in SC.

The cam is a custom Bullet grind; 519 lift, 270 duration similar to a Comp #224 with a slightly different lobe profile.

Comp springs, Scorpion 1.73 roller rockers.

Edelbrock 1405, which I'll have to upgrade to a 750cfm very soon (any recommendations?)

Hooker headers that feed into a set of 24" glasspacks.

Help!

Update: had some issues with dieseling. I swapped the RS 333-192 thermostat with the 180* Stant for Clevelands.

It still ran-on so I re-adjusted the idle, which was at 1000rpm. Now having an issue where the truck drops idle drastically and wants to die at a stop. Tried adjusting the idle, the mixture, and the initial timing with some improvement.

Any suggestions?

.. Did you ever find the problem? I have a similar problem... suspecting dirt in the float bowl and/or idle passages of the carb...

Three month old thread - problem solved?
"Bigger" cam = more initial timing. Try 16 - 20 degrees.
Edelbrocks don't like/can't tolerate more than 5 psi fuel pressure. Ported/timed vacuum on the left, manifold on the right.

Vacuum leaks?
