Another BDS lift

Time will tell but I had a good friends shop put on the 4 inch BDS lift with the FOX BDS shocks. Everyone at the shop was saying it was a quality kit. The ride is absolutely fantastic.

The kit is priced extremely reasonably too.

Definitely look into BDS if you are thinking of lifting.

Not a ton of details. I had the Icon 4.5 incher on my 2011 6.7 but thought it was pretty expensive for what you got so I decided to go the BDS route for this truck since I have heard they have excellent customer service (they do), a great warranty, and have a good quality kit.

I will post pics. Its nothing extreme as I am keeping the stock wheels. It will just look like a big stock truck.

Which lift did you go with?

Well damn... I just got done looking at the BDS kit. Looks pretty solid. Never saw this kit so it got over looked, but oh well. Too late now.

I got a pretty good price on the ICON 4.5 stage 1 kit. The only strange thing about it is it does NOT come with a drop pitman arm and all the other kits I have seen, including the BDS kit include a drop pitman arm.... Seems like if it were needed a higher end kit like the ICON would definitely come with it but I will talk to SDHQ here in AZ when I take it in to get installed. See what their opinion on the drop pitman arm is and if its needed I will just have it added there at the shop.

I will be running 37x13.50 Toyos on 20" Procomp wheels. I got a smoking deal on the tires and wheels.

Don't get me wrong, the Icon is top notch! Can you really run 37 13.5?

Good to hear! The kits say they should be able to run 35s with no trimming and run 37s with slight trimming and the right back spacing... So ill see what happens and work around it. I always just thought that a 6" lifts makes 37" tires look just as big as 35s on a 4" lifted truck. Kinda seemed like going to 6" and 37s was self defeating lol.

At any rate, its not my daily driver so I'm not worried about it, ill make it work and post all of my results! Thanks for the feedback and good luck with your rig!

That's going to be a beast with 37s.

I did a more conservative 285/75 R17s. About a 35 x 11.50. I like lots of wheel well space

Did you get a NEW Icon stage 1 4.5 inch kit? I know their stage 1 shocks are better now. I had the top mounting point rip on my Icon shock. When I pulled it off to inspect the shock, it had Bilstein stamped on it. I cant put too much blame on the Billies though, it was after a WV 4 wheeling trip pulling a skid loader filled with ATVs up one of the hills by where we camp. It got hammered.

Their new VS series shocks look nice.

Good luck. Ill look out for pics and I will post some up tomorrow.

Looking forward to pictures!!! This is the same lift I'd like to do on my truck... Did you do the 4-link 4" or the basic 4" kit?

How did you deal with the front drive shaft and catalytic converter contact? I hear it's an issue with a lift over 2.5" on the newer models that have a 6.2.

Hi there. I have about 1/4 inch space without doing any adjustment to the exhaust. I knew it would be a factor. I am going to go with it for a while and if I get any rub, I will adjust.

It's not as big of an issue as I thought it would be. If it rubs, we can simply cut a little jog in it somewhere or maybe even unbolt it and see if we can get another 1/4th inch.

Cool. Thanks. So there's not necessarily a contact issue. Sounds more like bolt it up and see what happens. Let us know how it goes.

Yes. BDS said that on some of the gassers you may have clearance issues which can be remedied pretty easily.

I think a couple asked for pics. Its amazing how normal it looks in a picture. The difference is much greater than the picture illustrates.

These are the Toyo AT2. I had the regular ATs on my last truck. The AT2s are still the same basic tread but the sidewalls are quite a bit more aggressive looking, which is nice.
