Smile Battery

Hi I have a 2000 ford excursion with the 7.3. It has 2 large batteries in it. If I ever needed to jump start somebody's car witch battery should I use?

Either one, it doesn't matter.

When it comes to replacing one though, make sure you always replace both, even if one tests good.

ditto, just what he said...
You can jump start from either battery, because they are wired together.

Also replace both at the same time. if you only replace one, then the remaining battery will quickly kill the new battery.

Ok thanks guys. Do both batteries crank the starter or does one power the electronics and the other is for the starter?

Diesel engines are high compression engines and need both batteries to power the starter to turn the engine over.
