Fuel Pump Filter
So after no luck finding the short I moved on to fixing the breaks. When I crawled under it to break a bleeder, I could smell and see gas on the cement under it. So I had my friend turn it over and I found the problem real quick... It was pouring out of the fuel filter can on the fuel pump. After I removed the can I could tell the little rubber seal was hard as a rock.
So here is my question... Obviously I am going to replace the rubber seal... I am wondering if I should put some Teflon tape on the treads before I screw the fuel filter can back on. My buddy suggested it as an added help...
1. I am not sure it will need added help.
2. I am wondering if the gas will just melt Teflon tape.
The fuel filter can seems like it would be prone to leaking often.

Can't answer for certain but I wouldn't use the tape. You might brush the threads good before installing, my guesstimate if the pump has been on long enough for the rubber to crack & leak it's days are numbered anyways.

People use an oil filter wrench to remove the cannister, causing it to twist, then split open. Check the cannister for cracks.
