I have a 2000 V-10 2 WD . 70k. Need new shocks, looking for ideas. Also, Front tires slightly cup After 2500 miles. Rotation helps but it still continues . Tires are balanced. Will the new shocks help this ? Slight wheel hop at about 70 and smooths out around 80?
I bought Monroe Reflex shocks a few months ago and have been real happy with them. My rig was getting bouncy and jiggly, and this cured the problem. Helped smooth out the ride, too.
Two other real popular choices seem to be Rancho 9000's and also Bilsteins. But I can't speak to those and will let others sing their praises.
Just my two cents since I also have a 2wd V10. Hope this helps!
X2 on the Monroe Reflex's. Had ours on a few weeks and so far so good. If ours was a 4wd I probably would have went with Ranchos or similar but I have no regrets the route we took.
Using the reflex's here as well. I could not stomach the cost on Bilsteins or Rancho 9ks. Monroe makes Rancho and alot of the technology is shared across product lines, larger valves and tubes etc... Towed last weekend with them and the new sway bar, no issues.
Rancho has their rebate offer going on right now. It's not as sweet as it was last year though.
Last year it was buy 4 shocks and a lift kit and get a $500 Visa card. I bought the 4 shocks and cheapest lift kit listed and turned around and sold the lift kit. All said and done, I pocketed like $37 and now have 4 shinny new Rancho RS9000XL 9-way adjustable shocks.
Oh, I guess mark me in the "Likes Ranchos" column.
I'm also using the Reflex shocks but if Rancho or someone has one of their deals going, certainly consider your options. No one mentioned it yet but check shockwarehouse.com and see what may be available there. I believe they offer free shipping too.
