I have no clue what your calling a "transfer pump", but the valve on the frame is simply a selector valve.. We only have one fuel pump on these trucks and it's in the valley of your engine.......

It confuses people when you can't give a decent explanation of what you got going on. Lol

It got finished for all of about 1500 miles and then the engine melted the number 5 piston. Now swapping from 302 to a 408. Lol. Engine is being built right now.

Same amount of room as a f250 or a f350 there aint no diffrence in engine compartment room but the perches would have to be changed.

Plenty of room for a 460, but I'm not about to change the trans and everything to make that happen.. lol. A 500hp 408 will be plenty

The 302 wasn't a 500hp built engine and it failed because it ran lean on a cylinder. I just have the itch to go bigger, so bigger it is. The 302 was only about a 315hp engine and I'm now used to a 500hp truck anyways. Lol

OP - i'm curious about your fuel pressure regulator screen fixing an engine knock. I have a knock in my engine - sounds like its coming from the passenger side and is most apparent at idle and goes away at higher RPM. Its nothing too major and is worse when the engine is cold, but every time I hear it it makes me think its something I should address.

i'm still not totally convinced its not a bend rod, but i'm pretty sure that would get worse/louder at higher RPM. I checked all the rocker arms and rods real quick when doing my glowplugs in the fall. nothing major going on there, but I could have missed a slightly bend rod, I guess.

I hadn't thought that it would be fuel pressure related, but your post makes me wonder. my fp was good at the Schrader valve, but if the screen is after this test point, it still could be low going to the injectors... i'd really rather not tear into my fuel bowl as i'm saving up for e-fuel sometime soon and would rather just junk the whole mechanical setup before doing any work to it....

you don't have any video of your knocking prior to your fix do you? I need to get some video of my engine posted to see if someone can help me diagnose, but I'm not on youtube so have been putting it off...

i do but my phone is turned off for a bit work is tight atm, but it was a slight miss. It could be a weak injector thats what i was told but i decided to clean the system and sure enough there was trash in the screen. On the side of the fuel bowl there are 2 1o millimeters bolts thats the fuel pressure regulator. Unbolt it then pull it back with steady light pressure when you clear the oring pull up on it and itll slide off of the fuel line. But to pull your bowl its only three hose clamps one electrical connector and 2 bolts that come out with a 6in extension with a 1/2 on the other end.

Robert, that two tone is kinda common.. I've seen a bunch of trucks with that scheme.
