^for sure man. Discovery is the part I like. So maybe somewhere down the road I can pitch in on someone's question. I like ohh why do it factor part....ummm why not? I do it for the same reason we drive old ford trucks in 2013 it's what we like.
seajr1978, you can make any Engine,Tranny configuration work in any vehicle with fabrication. I love the concept of discovery. I'm sure if you wanted a jet engine in that truck, with the right inginuitive mind, you could make it happen. I put a Dodge 318 and 727 tranny, into a 68 Chevy once. Also, I went to college to learn Auto mechanics, and my instructor, had done the same thing you are doing. But, in his case, he took a 350 engine and TH350 tranny from a 1994 Camaro, and put it into a 57' Chevy. Of course he had to use the computer, speed censors, and various other components that the computer needed to function,as well. So I do know that what you are doing can be done. If you have the intuition, and the funds, have at it, and have fun while your doing it.
@djmichael24951 Let me remind you of what you said earlier and that wasn't even some redisign/refab
I know what you mean, lafermedavid. I started my project truck December, a year ago. I am so close to getting it done. I thought I was going to be done with it when I got the rebuilt engine and tranny in it a month ago. Nothing doing. Other things started popping up. I had to replace bearings and seals on both rear axles. Now I have to contend with getting the fluid changed, because, I found water in the gear oil. I believe this truck was definitely a mud bogger. It had water in both differentials and the transfer case. Then, I had to change the inner seals on the front differential, because, I seen oil run out of one of the drive axle tubes as I was jacking up the front of the truck one day. I went ahead and put new bearings and seals on the front while I had it apart. Then the pitman seal started leaking. The tie rod ends need to be replaced (That is going to be a later project. I am so tired of working on this truck. It's been literally every day for the past 2 months. I am so ready to get this thing on the road. My wife tells me that I live in the garage now. LOL! Thank God theres heat in there!). I've come to the the conclusion that when I am through, I'm going to have a brand new truck. Well, I deserve it.

Good Morning, Redroad, How are ya, buddy? I was just more or less, commenting on what this gentleman is doing. On that same note, as I told him, With the right engineering, anything can be done to a vehicle. In my younger years, I would have never imagined you could do something like that. But, seeing is believing. As I told him earlier, my instructor in college, had done that very same thing to a 1957 Chevy and a 1994 Chevy Camaro. The key word, Redroad, is funds. If you have the money to blow, on something like that, and the right enginuitive mind, then yes, it can be done. In my case, funds, is definitely the key word, that and "honey to do list". That's why I've been over a year, getting this truck done. I bought this truck in December of 2011. Out of the last 15 months, it sat dormant (without me doing a thing to it), for 12 months. I don't want to do any fabrication on this. I want it to be as close to original as possible, as far as engine functionality. As for all the problems that keep popping up, this vehicle sat for 5 years, before I bought it. And, I'm sure you probably know, that letting a vehicle sit for a prolonged period of time, is the worst thing you can do to it. Now, I have a question for you. On my pinion seal leak on my 9 inch, can I remove the pinion assembly from the differential, and take it to a mechanic, and have him change the seal and, the crush sleeve (I think that's what it is called), and then bring it back and reinstall it myself, on the differential?
