You don't have to tell the dummies behind the counter exactly what it's for, you can give another vehicles stats to get a differently curved dizzy...
Sometimes its the dummy in front of the counter that makes it hard to get good help (I'm not referring to the OP)... I wish there was one of those little icon thingys I could use to show you how i really feel about that comment... dummie
DuraSpark electronic ignition introduced in 1974, but not all F100/350's came with it until 1976.
Modules identified by a colored plastic square above where the wires feed out. I don't recall the colors used in 1974 & 1975.
Module used in 1974 is 1974 only / Module used in 1975 is 1975 only.
Three different modules used 1976/79. One (red) was only installed in some sold new in CA vehicles, t'was a POS since day one: STAY AWAY!
One (yellow or brown) was only installed in sold new in 1978/79 high altitude vehicles.
One (blue) was installed in everything else.
1977/79 dizzy cap is different, has male ends and a plastic adapter that the cap clips to.
D4PZ-12A112-A .. Stator aka Magnetic Pickup Coil (Motorcraft DU-1A) located inside dizzy, takes the place of points/condenser.
1974/79 all FoMoCo V8's except 1979 LTD/Grand Marquis 351W with EEC
My 75 has the "mystery" extra blue wire and takes a green grommet module. If you need a module for your application let me know, I have a couple with black grommets I think are for 74, I don't think they will work on my 75. I'll make you a good deal......
Oops, I see your looking at a 1976, I'm pretty sure the black ones won't work for you. From everything I read it's a real "crap shoot" on these modules.
so i called napa thinking i got wrong dizzy but they double checked and said its right
The PO most likely used a dizzy that was spec'd for a car for it's more aggressive curve, the link Redroad gave you is a good one, here's another... Duraspark_distributor_recurve_instructions_index it's a pretty painless procedure.
You can get by with the 15L slot, just back off on your initial timing a bit, imo the 13L slot is the most "ideal" slot for our applications, the 10L and 18L slots require the use of way too much initial timing (10L) or hardly any initial timing at all (18L).

I just call it like I see it, these days most of the chain parts stores are staffed by 18-25 year old "know nothings".
The days of an actual "parts guy" behind the counter are long gone, unless you're fortunate enough to have an independent parts house in your town.

I'm all too familiar with 75's "extra" blue wire , the replacement modules deleted this extra blue wire, I've never been able to get one to work, I've had to source NOS modules.

i switched to the 15 slot and backed my timing down to 8 degrees. i like how the motor idled better at 12 degrees but at least the motor got its ***** back since i know how easy it is swap slots i think ill look for a 13 slot next time im at the bone yard
