78 ford sd leaf questions
1) how would i make sure the front axle is the same on both sides so the truck dont wanna pull to either side. not sure where i can get a 100% measurement that i can go off of.
2) do i have to get a zero caster block ( i think thats what is called) so i can move the axle to where it needs to be an will that block be road safe without my axle moving in the future?
3) would i have to get a front spring hanger from the junkyard off a superduty an put that on.
4) i seen posts on a 71 i think that has a bushing plate in the frame that they took off. not sure if our 78/79s have that. havent bin under the truck since last summer. parked all winter cuz here in pa the salt the use on the trucks just eats them away.
5) is it really worth all that work? i can get 8" lift spring custom made from customsuspention.com for about 350 a piece.
if anyone can help that would be great
thanks guys.

Put the truck on stands making sure the top of the frame rails are level from front to back over the front axle..with a framing square on the top of the frame hang a plumb bob off the top of the frame to where it's above the center of the axle tube or center of spring perch .. Now mark your frame with the square .. Any spring that you are considering lay a 2 x4 across the top of the eyes with the 2x4 level and with a plumb bob mark the center of the spring pack on the 2x4 .. also mark the center of the 2 eyes .. now cut the 2x4 to length at the marks for the eyes .. Now you have a custom measuring stick .. Place it against the frame with the center mark on the 2x4 lining up with the mark you previously scribed on the frame which was over center axle .. secure it with c-clamps .. the two ends of the 2x4 are now where any spring hardware has to lay out for that spring .. Just remember the accuracy of your measurements will dictate the correct fitment in the end ..
