Power window conversion

I'm looking to put power windows in my manual window truck. While a stock conversion would be as simple as finding a donor vehicle with a power setup that's not so easy for me as the junkyards around here seem to be picked clean of these types of donors...So I had the idea to get a power window conversion kit from jc Whitney.*

Has anyone had experiences with these kinds of kits? Are they reliable? Easy to put in or should I wait and hope to god I can find a donor vehicle for stock windows? *Im not overly concerned with appearances although stock look would be nice. I just want them to work! I don't mind a manual drivers window but reaching over to open the pass window for me is a pain. I have short arms And the cab is wide! LOL

Thanks for your input,
Al

I have never used the JCWhitney setup. With all the years available that would work, certainly you could find one in the junkyard?

All the places below in new Jersey had a right pass side window motor. I see even some of the car motors will work.

thanks Franklin, for some reason ive convinced myself I specifically need an 80-86 model for power windows...the only thing id need from our year trucks is the switch and or door panels. :::bangs head on wall:::

Have you ever done a conversion? Is it as simple as wiring power to the window motors or are there relays somewhere under the dash that needs to be hooked up?

I converted a 89 f250 once. But the guy just swapped the complete doors onto the truck with all the power stuff already in it. He didn't have the wiring harness though, so we had to hook it up ourselves, he had just cut the wires at the kick panel. It ended up being right many wires going from one door to the other(at least 5 or 6 I can't remember) but he also had electric locks. I installed a wire directly off the battery +, ran a short distance, and then put a 30 amp circuit breaker. I then ran this 10 gauge wire in through the firewall and use it to power the door locks and the power windows. The door locks have power all the time, but originally the windows do not. But we could not find a bad reason to have power all the time at the windows so we hooked them up to the same wire.
The fuse box may have a spot for the power windows, but it's usually not "loaded" or in other words it doesn't have the wire and terminal plugged in the back. But if you get the whole thing at the junkyard you can plug it all in.

Thanks! If I had a license I could be a legit electrician. I just get intimidated by "swap" projects because I wouldn't want to get half the stuff in and them find I'm missing parts I should have grabbed from the cab and now stuck with windows in the down position. Ha-ha! Just my luck.

I'll see what the junkyards come up with.

I did my 94 bronco with the motors and regulators from a 95 f150 standard cab, just drill out four rivets for each, they bolt in the same holes as your manual cranks, find any Ford switches you want to use, except if it has an Remote keyless entry, switches are wired different
