So I recently purchased a 2006 King Ranch F150 that had aftermarket HIDs installed. I was getting flashed almost every time I drove at night, so I decided to replace the HIDs with Sylvania Silverstar Ultras and now the low beams are extremely dim. I've had Silverstars in an 08 Mustang and know they should be a lot brighter than what they are now. Also, when I have the low beams on my high beam indicator is dimly lit on the dash. I have read that it's possible that it's a ground problem, but when I run a jumper from the ground wire to the negative battery terminal it doesn't change anything. By the way, this is happening in both auto and manual switch positions. I travel on mostly unlit roads at night, and need my headlights to function properly. Anyone have any ideas?
I completely removed the ballasts. The previous owner cut off the original connectors, and I had to rewire in new ones. I wired everything up correctly...at least I'm pretty damn sure of it anyway. The lights work, and high beams come on, it's just the low beams that seem to be really dim.
I had a Lincoln LS that I installed new headlights, the high beams didn't work. I kept the original harness. I swapped in original harness which fixed the issue. I guess I'd check voltage at the plugs for the headlight.
