Had the briteBox module fail today. It failed in a mode that kept the headlights on ...... even with the headlight switch in the OFF position.
I love the BriteBox, but who wants the headlights left on all night (or for hours on end) or until someone notices the headlights being on when they shouldn't be! A helpful neighbor caught mine before running the batteries down too low!
At least pulling the fuse was enough to return operation back to "normal".
At least you have the 250amp DC Alternator to Pump them Batterys back up
Does the brite box have a Warrenty?? or do you plan on getting rid of it since this has happened???
Kinda Like the Alarm I had it went off I couldnt get it to do anything so I had to pull the fuse. I took it back and had them wire in a Toggel switch so I wouldnt have to tear into the Dash to gget at the Fuse. It has Never do it again that was probably 5-6 years ago
I will probably replace it. It is 5 years old, so no warranty. I really like the additional light at night on the deer lease. Hopefully the failure is a fluke - I don't recall seeing this posted by anyone else. I may just add a switch for it, as you did.
A toggel might work if Cutting power to it resets it and it will go back to normal like my alarm did. It was really cold when My alarm went BIZERK Below 0*f
Its probably a Fluke I havent seen an other threads on here about other BB Failures
Thanks for the heads up. I have had mine about that long and so far no problems. Definitely something to watch for. I have the ability to leave the lights on by myself, batteries were totally dead and they have not seemed to suffer that one incident. As a result I am into a better habit of checking as I walk away.
Funny thing, I posted with my old handle in this thread years ago.
I never made a diagram, but I show how I made my own setup back in 2001, which was transferred over to my '03. When redoing my engine, I switched to a completely different setup but never had issues with the old relays.
My old Facebook page was set up as pictorials - each image has verbiage to it.
