302 timing
this is kid of a stupid question but when i'm trying to check the timing what marks on the block indicate what? I don't see any markings denoting the degree. It looks like there are two lines on the harm. balancer.

There may be some marks on the balancer, but they will be very faint. The best way to clean it off is to get underneath the truck and clean it from there where you can get to it. The scale is usually very faintly marked on the balancer. I am trying to remember the way my 351w was, and I believe the one deep groove was TDC or zero, and the other deep groove was around 8 or 10 BTDC, which was what these sticker called for on the valve cover.
