While replacing glow plugs in my '01 F350 I checked continuity and resistance from the pin connector to my glow plug boots. One wire registered 2.7 ohm resistance. I assume I need to replace the entire harness at this point. Is this a OEM part only or are better after market harnesses available. Thanks for your input!
If you go to Oriellys web site i believe they offer a one piece harness to eliminate that connection under your valve cover.I think it comes with a life time warrenty. There are some other FTE members using it and i have not read any negetive feed back yet.
Thanks for the input! I was about to ask if the gasket connector was integral to the harness and it would be replaced by replacing the harness. It appears it is a separate piece and I will replace it while I have the covers off. I really don't want to remove the covers again in the near future!
O'Rielleys has both the Dorman and the Motorcraft parts. I have found the OEM wiring harness on-line for about $30 cheaper than O'Rielleys. I will be ordering two of them.
I am having trouble locating the gasket connector. Does anyone have the OEM part no. for this piece? Thanks again for your help!
Only problem was hard starting this winter. No engine light etc. When I checked resistance of each glow plug, about 6 weeks ago, 3 out of 8 were within spec. My truck was starting in 20 degree temps with only three glow plugs working! I will have my glow plug system up and fully running just in time for summer!!
Go OEM, it's not an item you want to fail, if you start leaking oil, it's a bad day and could leave you stranded. If the connections fail, it's a bad day and could leave you stranded.
I called my local International dealer to check prices and availability for the harness. It took my local International parts guy most of the morning to figure out what I was looking for. I did supply him with the Motorcraft part # CM-4884. Long story short, I am picking 2 harnesses up from him this afternoon. $35 each! I am now looking for new under gasket connectors. Any suggestions?
I may have answered my own question regarding the under gasket connector. This connector seems to be part of the gasket and the only way to replace it is to replace entire gasket. Is this correct? Thanks for all your help!

Yes... The VC gasket is hard plastic with the connector built in. You will see it has an "o-ring" type seal that goes on the top and bottom faces of the gasket to seal off when the VC is on.
You are changing GP's also I hope. If only three are working the harness isn't the only problem. And with three only working it shouldn't of started without plugning it in. It only takes two to be bad and make it not start in real cold weather.
Thanks guys! I will do a visual inspection on the pins, as suggested by Tugly earlier in the post. I will then remove the UVCH and test the pin connector for any resistance. Thank you for your patience today. I am at work trying to diagnose and purchase parts so I can put it back together tomorrow.
