Transmission woes. Please HELP

I recently got my 2005 x 4x4 studded and tuned. It already had an egr delete and other goodies. It has about 500 hp at the wheels. I recently did a boost launch. I put in 4hi, spooled it up to 26 lbs of boost, and launched it. We went about 500 ft, then nothing. The rpm shot up and the transmission quit pulling. There was no popping noise, or grinding noise. I crawled under it today and through the bell housing, I can see the torque converter spinning, I disconnected one of the oil lines and the tranny fluid came out with the pump. I am leaning toward the transfer somehow popped in to neutral.

Does park still work?

If yes, Tcase is not in neutral.

So none of the gears work?

I think so. I really haven't tested that to be honest. I know it won't do anything in any other gear. Forward or reverse.

Seriously?

Maybe you should sell it and buy a Honda Civic.

I can't help how to fix the transmission issue...just thinking of ideas to save the rest of the truck.

No offense but you play you pay and sounds like this one is going smack you hard in the wallet.

Why would you say that?

Do you have something against 4-wheel drive boosted launches??

Sorry, I should have kept my opinion to myself. I don't have any problem with anyone doing boosted launches with "their" truck.

Carry on....

LOL, no worries. I just didn't understand the eek smiley.

I practice 4-wheel boosted launches every-so-often. And will do so even more when the next NHRDA Division 2 race gets closer.

+1.

The 5R110 is one of the better transmissions out there, but when you exceed stock power levels by that much something will give eventually. I think it's very likely that you broke something inside the transmission and you're going to need a rebuild at best.

It could be the trans or it could be the transfer case. See if it rolls or holds in park. That will tell which one is the problem.

Nope, my diesel Excursion does not fetch groceries...is was not designed to do that either. I use it to take the family on long trips, pull the boat and other things that it was built to do. When I want to do high boost launches, I take this thing out. Everything behind the motor was built to handle the extra power the motor puts on it. (and sometimes it's a grocery getter, when I need beer FAST!)
Nothing wrong with building up a motor to make more power and doing high boost launches, just make sure everything behind it can tolerate it....or stuff will break.

So the TC spins while in park? I wonder if you sheared off the flex plate bolts? That or you snapped the input shaft. Hopefully its something easy to fix.

The TC is bolted to the engine, it will always spin with the engine running no matter what. It's highly unlikely he messed up the input shaft or sheared anything off up there without it making a noise.
