When researching camper shells in the forums I found very few pictures of bumpsides with shells. Here's mine. I have some more customizing to do, but so far so good.
The company is Tradesman out of Winters, Ca...(they make all kinds of truck tops) I searched all over and didn't find anyone else who was willing to make a custom shell for me. There was another company in San Diego, but they closed in recent years.
I wasn't sure a modern fiberglass shell would look right on an older truck, and none of the other aluminum shells were going to be a custom fit.
I called up with a pretty exact description of what I wanted and they made it happen. They said in the 30-something years they'd been making shells, campers, etc. they had never put windows in the roof. (The wife and I get to look up at the stars when we're sleeping in the back.)
They'll make about anything, shells, cab-overs, campers. I guess they make stuff for the CHP, fire departments, all kinds of stuff. I didn't price anything except their camper shells. The price was pretty comparable to other brands. Mine got pretty expensive because of all the windows and custom paint. The aluminum is a little thicker than other shells I priced, and the hardware is all really nice. I'm pretty sure they have a patent on the door hinges (instead of your typical piano hinge)
I can't say enough about the customer service they gave me. I was ready to spend a bunch of a money on a shell I plan on keeping for a long time and was disappointed when nobody else was really interested in making something a little unique. (I called/emailed everyone I could find on google)
$3400 after tax got me:
A PERFECT FIT
Lift up doors all around
T-handles
4 sliding side windows
1 sliding/flip down front window to access the cab
3 solid long windows for the roof and rear
Custom paint
2 dome lights on a toggle
Third brake light
Custom roof rack (they adapted the typical ladder rack for me to use for surfboards)
Carpet
3 Year Warranty and Install
The salesman I worked with is named Dan. He likes the product he sells. He opened up the shop on a Saturday because I was going to be in Northern California and wanted to see my shell as it was being built. I'll look for the picture of it in the paint booth.
The only thing that wasn't real impressive was their webpage.
