have a 88 f350 with 7.3 n/a. just bought it dude said he put new injectors in it but it had 4 injector caps leaking drove it home fixed them didnt help. still missing white smoking goin down the road at 50 to 55 rplaced fuel/water filter helped for a minute started again. today changed rubber hose from fuel filter to line and line to ip seemed to help alot still has like a idk a puff goin down the road and as it does it blue smoke comes out?
missing and white smoke is probably bad injectors.he might have replaced them, but if he did, probably with just another bad set.
if it's surging it could be air though.
the blue smoke while going down the road is probably the oil rings.
sounds like it might have been one i would have passed on unless she was priced to sell that made it worth buying the truck and a reman engine for.but i wouldn't have payed anywhere near "running truck" value for one in this shape.
look for a leak in the fuel system from tank to lift pump, sounds like air bubbles in the fuel system, or pluged up return line orifce on the ip return line..their is a tiny hole, in the brass fitting that exits the ip and the fuel fillter housing, some model years have a small ball check valve and very soft spring, under the brass fitting, or the fella didn't change the injectors...if one or more are stuck opened or dripping they will smoke...u could try removeing the fillter and dumping it out and fill it with diesel911, and start it and turn it off over night to try to clean them out...
