Thank you for the replies! These look great, I am in. I like both the F650 dash and above the mirror mount, these decisions keep gettin rougher, lol
i will be using both, am waiting on my F650 dash, ive heard several people say that any larger than 3 pods have a hard time staying connected to the window. sometimes your lucky but i didnt want to risk it. this way i have room for one more gauge eventually!
riff-raff diesel a sight sponsor, i have the blue led glow shift gauges and the are way bright! I have an option on my switches to shut them off at night, since you cant dim them,
I just installed mine last week. I went with the MaxTow Double Vision series. Here is the link to the thread down in the 7.3 section...posts 53 and 55 explain the install step by step. Your fuse panel may be different on the 05, but the concept is the same.
They are working great, and I am happy with them. Time will tell if they hold up. I spent total, with add a circuit stuff, $365 on the install.
I too just put in a couple of the MaxTow Double Vision gauges, Trans temp and rear diff temp (actually used an engine oil temp gauge, they don't offer a diff temp gauge in this series.) Got them mounted just in time for our 1900 mile trip last week, no issues at all and the color matches the dash well. I really like having both the needle sweep and digital readouts.
Mike, your link doesn't work for me but I read your thread (Nice work there! ) If you were refering to the undermount 3 gauge pod like you used then no, I'll eventually be using a 4 gauge above the mirror pod, I have an F-650 dash I'm working on so the undermount won't work for me. But for now my 2 gauges are just in a simple .040" aluminum panel in my custom radio console in front of my center console, I needed something quick just to have them on the trip.
I fixed that pic. Don't know what happened with that....
Wish I could get myself to come off the money for that 650 dash. Very nice setup. How is the oil temp gauge working out for the rear end? Temp range is OK and sensitive enough?
The oil temp gauge seems to be working well in the rear, it's range is from 100 to 280 degrees. On this trip pulling my 9K+ ToyHauler with ambient temps ranging from 35 to 70 I saw diff temps run around 190 to 215 at 60 to 67 MPH, when the rain started it would drop about 30 and the temps would climb as speed increased. Running around Savannah solo it would take a little while to come above the base of 100 but then it would settle in the 150 to 175 range. I installed the probe in the oil fill hole using a brass plug drilled and tapped for the probe.
I run 4 of them in my 7.3 and they've worked beautifully. No problems at all and for the 1-2 questions that I had for customer service, they answered them quickly and professionally.
I just had three glow shift gauges installed. 3in one egt boost and fuel pressure that one on the pillar with the handle in place and a water and oil temp under the dash. they apear to be working great. water and oil once heated up are around 180. boost goes from 1- 16 fuel pressure from 56-61 EGT been around 500-800 the probe was put near the turbo. Over all I am very happy we have to figure out how to get it hooked to the dimmable dash lights. They are working on that today.
