Outside Temp really an option

Outside Temp really an option
New to Ford vehicles. Just purchased a 08 EL limited and it doesn't seem to have outside temp display. According to owners manual it says hold in info button for 2 seconds for outside temp display ( if equipped ).
Can't believe on a $50k + vehicle outside temp display would be an option. I came from GM that had it conveniently in rear view mirror.
Can it be added I would think ECM needs to know outside temp for engine management.

Ah just put coat on and walked out to Expy and sure enough there it was EXT button on HVAC controls
When I looked up out side temp in owners manual it talked about DIC
I haven't looked at HVAC controls in manual yet.
