Last Friday, I picked up my new 2008 F250 SD, EC. It's got the FX4 pkg with the V10 engine. So far, I'm blown away by how nice this truck drives, handles, rides, fit and finish - everything so far is AWESOME. However, either I'm too stupid to figure it out or Ford just plan dropped the ball but it doesn't have the outside temp/compass readout!!!! I can do without the compass but if they have left the outside temp readout off this truck, I'll be VERY dissappointed. At the price we're having to pay for these trucks Ford could at least include the readout to tell me the temp outside. Somebody please tell me I'm wrong and how to set it up!!!!!!!!
All I know is inorder to get the compass and temp display you have to get either the Lariat or KingRanch, but i might be wrong. I have never seen compas and outside temp displays in anything except the KingRanch and Lariat models an there is no option on fords site either.
I installed one of these in my XLT. Works great and very accurate. Easy to install. Probably alot cheaper than Ford would of charged for it when you bought the truck. Oh by the way, it's considered OEM. Hope this helps ease your pain.
in 08, FX4 is a model between the XLT and the Lariat. What was the FX4 package in prior years is now the '4x4 off road package' which is the skid plates.

737 How accurate is that Gentex anyway? I've heard both sides and it been mainly third party talk....finally someone that actually has one.
Within one degree, plus or minus, of the temperature readings of the road signs
in Phoenix. Compass headings, plus or minus 10 degrees.
The key to the temperature probe is to mount it to the bumper, below and away from the radiator. Mine is close to but away from my fog lights. Works great day or night.
My wife's 03 Expedition has the same unit stock from Ford. It also reads the same as mine.
