How hard is a dual alternator setup on these trucks?
That's an interesting question? As Montana pointed out, the 3G alt seems to be the 2nd coming.
I almost fell into that myself, but after reading all the posts, how to's, etc and then looking at my 'daily driver' needs, I concluded stock was OK for me.
(just saying).
As for the dual alt setup, I have a 351m from CA. it had the SMOG pump located just under the Alt. same belt to drive both.
Since most of us (outside the 'clean air state'), don't need SMOG anymore, that would be a great place bolt on another one. Would charge the 2nd batt? Hmmm.
