Last night coming out of work my check engine light came on. I didn't have my code reader with me and the mechanic had gone home hours ago. It was running fine so I shrugged it off and decided it must be the glow plug circuit code that was coming up a few months ago and then self resolved.
This morning it started fine, but the CEL was still on. About a mile from my house, while dealing with some spilt coffee, I lose all power and the engine starts running very rough.
I pull over pop the good and immediately get to work. First thing I tried was unplugging the ICP because I know it's seeping oil onto the connector. No go. I checked fuel flow. Adaquate flow at the drain valve. Revs would increase with throttle but power would not. I'm about to call into work when it hit me. How many times have I diagnosed this online.... UVCH. A little more than an hour before start of shift I didn't have time to be pulling valve covers. Besides, my UVCH connectors wernt backed out at all last time I checked. But them I remembered... The left back EXTERNAL connector is loose. I hop back up and sure enough. It had backed out almost completely. Plugged it back in, fired it up and no problem.
So long story short, I know clay sells the connector, but how big is the harness its connected too? Is it the main engine harness? If its a relatively small harness I might opt to buy the harness instead.
Knowing how proud Ford is of their wireing I would guess a few hundred dollars for that harness mabe more. Fords trailer wireing harness is 18" long and they want close to $200 for that. I would love to see the price for the engine harness.

X's 2 Tousley lists it at $484 I would be looking at salvage yards or repairing likely.
It is a big and expensive harness. IIRC it may not be available either. Last time I remember someone posting the one with the GPCM was available, but he GPR harness was not.
Here is a picture of it out of the truck. I am actually splicing the Passenger side UCVH connector into it!
Is it just the connector on the outside of the VC? I bought a set of two and only needed one, took me about 45 minutes to do and was able to repair it in the truck. You can have the other pigtail if you want, just PM me your address.
Hey Ken how long did it take you to take out, repair and reinstall the harness?
The harness was only pulled for access doing head studs and a turbo removal. Normally it would not need to come out.
I solder spliced the connections and used individual heat shrink on each wire. I did it during a Tech Day at my shop and probably had an hour into it total. I would guess doing it on an installed harness would be under two hours. Really you are just splicing in nine wires. Just use a good soldering iron and solder, you will be good to go!
