help with a part name?
the rubber goodie with the screen broke off the uptake tube inside the belly tank of my 1993 F350 diesel. the dealer tells me i need to buy the whole unit ($414) and new wiring since the plug has changed. does anyone know if i can just get the screen attachment -- it slides on the tube! what do i call it? thanks

Here's the way I did mine. Rubber hose with a V notch so it won't suck itself to the bottom of the tank. Others have put a brass T on the end and Bashbys idea of extending the metal tube with a compression fitting is a good one too.

i dunno if either of those are the actual part or not.they sure look just like the one i repaired in my tank.mine just slipped off and needed a hose clamp.been fine ever since.with a press of the button to lift the bed and right there again,i didn't fear it not working.
as you can see,it's just to catch anything big that might take out the fuel selector valve or plug the line right up.it's not really anything "needed" and why most just ditch it and tube it.
im sure if you wanted a screen,you could make something much better yourself.but mines been in there for 20 years and it's still fine,so how bad are they really? now tomorrow she'll fall off and ill see it laying on the bottom in pieces just because i mentioned it.
