Welcome to FTE! Please do share some description and pix, and what you plan to do with it. There is a learning curve ahead of you to keep your money going to mods and not to the stealership. A good place to start is the Failure Prevention Thread Greg started.

WELCOME. Yes, almost any problem you encounter can be found on this website, with instructions how to fix it. This site will save you thousands of dollars in repairs, if you are brave enough to simply try to fix it yourself. Trust me, if I can do it, anyone can. Then with those thousands of dollars in savings, you will feel the obligation to give into your PMS...that is, Powerstroke Modification Syndrome. Unlike a lot of sites, this site will mostly encourage "common sense" modifications that WILL add horsepower, etc, but also longevity and many time MPG increases (if you can keep your foot out of it).
Welcome.

Welcome. Like mentioned look into maintenance and longevity mods ASAP! One of the first things I would recommend is the .50cent mod. I read and read and read about it for almost three years now and kept putting it off. Now that my UVCH failed cause I didn't to the mod Im dealing with a DISASTER of other problems!!
If you do the little mods and maintenance things that these trucks need they will run problem free for a very long time and you will love every minute of it!!

You've lost me already. What is the .50cent mod and what does it do? Bought the truck to pull a fifth wheel (which I haven't got yet. Had to get the horse before I got the cart). Only thing I see as a potential problem right now is it doesn't want to start when it's cold outside (40 and below). I changed the oil in the HPOP tank but not in the channels. Any other suggestions?

Whuuh? The oil is all one and the same - it circulates. 5-40 (CJ-4 for diesels) makes the truck far easier to start when it's cold outside. You need 4 gallons (yup.. I said gallons) and an oil filter to change your oil. Welcome to diesel and to FTE!
