I took my truck (10k miles) in for a check engine light (code P-2043 per my Insight) yesterday morning at 8:00AM. The service manager finally called in the afternoon to say they had to order a sending unit overnight. He says you're lucky, it's covered under warranty. No S*** Sherlock. Today I don't hear from them so I called again and he tells me the part is "emergency ordered" today (whatever that's supposed to mean) and now I won't get the truck back until tomorrow. What, 3 days to replace a temperature sending unit?
I was already slightly dealerphobic from years of bad experiences. This sends me into a cold sweat and some anxious moments. What was a perfectly good truck with only 10k miles could now be scarred for life.

There are a TON of sensors on these things.
Don't take it to heart that anythings wrong with it; it's just a sensor.
But yes, it is funny that anyone has to wait for something so small and trivial that disables the vehicle from operating...
d99. national back order.. it means thers a lot of broken trucks or a suppler issue... or both
Probably a combo of both.
That does suck, it would be awesome if the car companies could get an override code, and it would disable the emissions system while they got the part in.
They could just pay the EPA a daily small fine, at least the customer wouldn't be sitting at home without their vehicle like a dumb ****.
Better yet dismantle the EPA altogether.
What a waste of tax payer money in a tough economy.
The SM called me back yesterday and somehow the part mysteriously showed up early. Anyway they did get the truck out yesterday late. So kudos to them for their efforts, I guess.
That still doesn't make me happy though. After all, now I have to re-adjust my seat (I wish I had memory seats), mirrors, AC was on max (70 degree day). Why do they have to jack with everything?
So someone had to drive your truck into the shop to fix it and moved the seat ?!?
How dare they !!!
I too would have rather they not be able to reach the brakes and ram the shop wall
I have memory seats, but my wife still moved things around - almost impaled myself on the steering wheel the other day she moved it up so close
Oh I'm sure they took it for a test drive. I drive different cars all the time and only rarely find it necessary to re-adjust someone's seat. I guess I'm just in a grumpy mood today and had to take it out on an easy target (The Runt).
