On start up, hot or cold. the low 4x4 light and the parking brake light come accompanied with the the alarm. This lasts for 15 to twenty minutes untill it quits. I have noticed that when the engine is under load and shifts down the alarm and a lights can go off, This problem does sometimes occur when driving. When this happens the cruise control will disengage. Do I have a faulty 4x4 switch? Is it a sensor on the transmission? Any help out there

Hi daviddoran and welcome to FTE.

You have a puzzle there. Let's narrow things down a bit.

What engine and transmission do you have in your truck? Do you have manual or ESOF (twist the dial on the dashboard) 4 wheel drive?

What modifications have been done to your truck?

What alarm goes off? Is it like the seat belt chime, or something else?

Did you purchase this truck new, or used?

Does this truck have an alarm system?

When did you first notice this problem? What was done to your truck just before that?

Hi, I have recently purchased this truck, I have put about 3500Km on it. It had 160,000km on it when purchased. It is a 5.4 triton. I have had a tune up,new plugs and injector flush and the transmission serviced. No alarm system and the sound is not bell like but a steady high pitched tone, quite irritating. I have pulled relays out of the fuse boxes but that made no difference. It is confusing because when I have applied the park brake and released it the lights on the dash go out and the tone stops, but this happened only a couple of times. Yes the 4x4 switch is on the dash.
