400m c6 size

400m c6 size

I have a 78 f150 that needs a new c6 trans. I was wondering if I need one for a big block or a small block? Any fees back would be greatly appreciated.

You need one with a big block bell housing to bolt to the 400.

So if I were to get one from a 460 I'd be in good shape

yes but look for one with the same length t-case adapter.

Those are bolt on right?

Yep you need one with the same bellhousing pattern as a big block. Just remember that 2x4 and 4x4 trannys are different and no 460 came in 4x4 until the 80s. Also make sure there is bolt holes around the shift shaft for the NSS. Good luck.
