Question vacuum booster maybe?

Ive been wondering for the longest time, I have some sort of contraption located on the fender well almost right below the master cylinder. Its like some sort of ball maybe, its got 2 vacuum lines coming out of it. One goes to some unknown location and the other one is not connected since we did the engine swap its been like that. Anyone have any ideas? Im gonna hook it up here in a lil bit to see if anything changes, as my old blue ford(also a 76 f100 supercab) did not have this here apparatus.

It's a vaccum reservoir so you don't loose your power brakes at low RPM or when shut off

Right church, wrong pew.
That is a vacuum reservoir but it doesn't have anything to do with the power brakes.
That reservoir is for the factory A/C controls.
73-late 75 it was a metal can, after s/n W00,001 they switched to the plastic ball.
Here's the illustration from the Ford parts catalog,

Ok that makes sense now, I dont have the compressor running or installed. I will have to hit the local junkyard and find the AC mounting bracket for the 300 as the one the guy who originally had the motor used a whole different truck bracket but it was fine for his application. Mine...I need power steering for this beast and not so worried bout the ac as the "rolled down windows" system works just good enough for me

But will it cause any sort of vacuum loss without it being hooked up?

No, as long as the reservoir outlet is capped there won't be any vacuum leak.
The A/C system is the only accessory this reservoir is used for.

I was going to ask if by chance you had the "Hi-lo comfortvent" heater option. That was the A/C system minus the A/C part but I see you've got a '76. Ford offered the comfortvent system starting in '78.
There's no telling what a PO has done in the nearly 40 year history your truck has .

yea tell me about it, ive seen a couple things that were hmmm...rigged, but it is helping out in my use so it dont bother me none at the moment. HiLo? i think the there was something like that on the slider maybe, its the original AC unit as far as i know, plus it has the main/aux tank switch on it as I have dual tanks. I jus gotta reinstall the white piece with notches in the control unit as when I was trying to install another radio, found i couldnt as the space wasnt wide enough for it, the piece came out. I just had to pull the heater fuse as the fan motor was stuck on and pulling juice that didnt need to be wasted on startup.

The Hi-lo comfortvent heater was a step up from the standard heater. With this system you got the vacuum controls and dash outlets of the A/C system without the A/C.
It included everything the factory A/C system had, including that enormous evaporator housing in the engine compartment, minus the evaporator, compressor, condenser, lines, etc associated with the A/C part of the system.
