I posted this a while ago and still have had no luck finding the problem For some reason late last fall I lost power to my trailer plug no lights still have brakes though. What is also strange near the same time my fuel gauge crapped out and my ABS light came on could these things be related?? i have checked fuses all over the truck. Any ideas? Any help appreciated thanks? Tom
Not sure how the fuel gauge works into this. But you do have a set of relays for the trailer
in the BJB (Battery Junction Box) in the left side near firewall in the engine bay. You may
want to have a look there and see if you find anything odd. Also did you have anything
happen/work before this came up?
dont know If these are on the same link check glove box lite and cig lighter also use a prob lite on each of the prongs in the plug, do you have trailer brake?
Did you check the wiring from back to front to be sure nothing ate through it? I have an extra plug in the bed of the truck for my 5th, and the wires are spliced on the frame rail, perhaps you have this too and something corroded?
I do have trailer brakes ,the plug in the bed is also dead. nothing strange happen ed nothing rubbing the bottom of the truck that would break or tear wires no electrical shorting or wiring changes or problems one weekend it worked the next it did not. I just through the fuel gauge out there just in case they were related. i was trying to avoid wire chasing. I will check the relays. I checked every fuse in the cab and under the hood they all are good. thanks for the help so far
Thanks Cheez, i found some spare time last night so I just did a quick plug check
plug and connections are good i have trailer brakes and right turn signal everything else is dead. So this weekend I am going to go wire tracing and see what I come up with.
Did you remove the plug on the back side of the 7way plug to check for corrosion/
I have one that was not working and it was the plug that had gotten green and fuzzy.
The harness end was ok just had to replace the 7way on the hitch bracket.
