Spring swap

Ok guys. I have read a lot of posts regarding the front and rear spring swaps. I probably need to do something but don't know what to do. I think I am going to add the RAS and Hellwig sway bar to the rear. I saw a post from X-Hemi-Guy that if you add those two things then you should be good.

I do not have much clearance in the front end now with original springs. The EX has about 128,000 miles on it. I don't want to lift it too much because I like to garage my vehicles. I want to keep this EX as long as I can.

I have been on SDtruckspring and I can't even figure out which ones are "V" codes if I decide to go that route.

Need some help!

I'd suggest starting with your goal, Kevin. What do you use the Ex for and how much are you thinking of spending? From there you can make a plan.

My goal is for it to ride better while towing and still be able to garage it with minimal lift. I haven't measured to see how much clearance I have right now pulling into garage.

We use the EX for towing our 25 foot travel trailer. I have noticed the wander in the front that everybody talks about. It is also a daily driver for the wife. She does not go far though. She is a stay-at-home mom.

I would say I have around $1500 for upgrades. The suspension is the major thing. I don't really have any other issues right now except for tires but that is a separate budget. I would like to do suspension and dual cam sway control upgrade with that $1500. I already have the WD hitch.

I'm not experienced in towing, but the V/B spring swap will serve you well and keep lift under control. If you can do it over a weekend with some friends, you'll save some coin for other upgrades.

Check the spring rates on those packs from SDtruck compared to factory Ford spring rates, there have been a few threads about SDtruck being lighter than an actual V, X, B code etc.

He is correct. Some are close but still a little off! Give this a look Leaf Springs | The Suspension King
They have ones like the factory ones. I found this site a little late, however I am very satisfied with my swap from SDTruck. I just forgot to order the F350 4" blocks before I did it, so they are in my garage floor waiting for the weather to break.

Suspension king lists the same springs for the F250 and F350, which makes sense.

I'm wondering how their springs line up with Ford's springs?

I'm also wondering if you'd use F250/F350 springs on the X or some of their X springs? They offer different springs capacity springs for the X too. They are quite a bit softer than the truck springs, especially the rear springs. Guess you can't load up the back of an X with a few tons of gravel like you can with a pickup.

This is verbiage straight from their site:

For F250/F350 fronts they have:
Light Duty 1830 lbs (spring capacity)
Medium Duty 2230 lbs
Heavy Duty 2630 lbs
Extreme Heavy Duty 3950 lbs

For F250/F350 Rears:
Super Duty Regular Duty 3000 lbs (spring capacity)
Super Duty Heavy Duty 3300 lbs
Super Extreme Heavy Duty 4400 lbs

For the X Front:
Light Duty 1680 lbs (spring capacity)
Medium Duty 1780 lbs
Heavy Duty 1980 lbs

For the X Rear only one spring option:
Rear 2275 lbs
