Couldn't think of a better place to post this, so hopefully this forum is appropriate.
Anyways, after doing a trans flush and fill on my '99SD I've found I no have a 5 gallon pail full of used ATF (and judging by the improved feel of things now, its very used!). Short of discarding it (in a legal and responsible manner) does anybody have any ideas for uses? I've considered using it as a winter bicycle chain lube, though I would never in my life need the entire 5 gallons for that.
Would it be worth the effort to spray it on the underbody for some protectionfrom rust in the salt belt? Clearly the light weight of the oil wouldn't hold up well in broad open areas, but if it offers decent corrosion protection and water resistance it might stay put in the nooks and crannies enough to be worth the effort (since all I would need is a sprayer for it). Thoughts?
