What's everyone's feelings on this? Undercoating I feel is dumb because it seems it peels and cracks within the first 2 yrs, then moisture sits back there and it peels more..... You get the picture. I'm more so interested in the drip oil or dripless oil they put in the doors and whatnot.
I had it for a Chevy Suburban back in the late 90's, worst vehicle I have ever owned... but that is another LONG story.... I lived in the MidWest snow/salt belt, didn't own the vehicle long enough to test it out, but was suprised at the annual treatments required, they added up in the short time I had the vehicle. I have not had it in any other vehicles since. Maybe someone has a better reference.
Oil spray is the way to go. Products like Krown or Fluid Film ect work great. Once a year makes a huge difference. Around $100 a year is cheap to protect your investment.
Did you do this yourself or have this done? I can't do it myself this time of year and the only place I know of in town is ziebart. But I have read that the two products you mentioned are good.
I have seen too many vehicles that were literally held together by the undercoating... Unless you coat the metal inside and out, you're fighting a losing battle...
I used Fluid Film this fall. Took about 3qts plus a single aerosol can (for inside doors) to do my crew cab dually..
I used to use used engine oil but now I use Fluid Film. I smells a little funky at first. It lasts a lot longer than oil and it's environmentally friendly. My friend has a Silverado with Zebart and I wasn't a fan of how many holes they drilled in the body then put plugs in them.
Brand new vehicles I paint the underside..got to be completely clean. Then I use fluid film.
I've taken to painting all the virgin steel and iron myself - until this truck (2015) which had very little exposed metal. Even the frame has a very thick coating of paint on it from the factory..
